Sign Of The Times:

By Amy…

Recently while going through random, photos, letters and journals, I came upon an entry of a conversation between my husband, Silas (my now 9 year old son) and me.  Four years have passed since this conversation, but I am so glad that I recorded what was said, as it has cheered my heart today.  I encourage you to keep record of the witty things your children say because like me, I am sure that those sweet moments become harder to bring to mind as the years progress.
Scene: Silas (age 5) has his back to me and was talking emphatically to someone.  I am in the kitchen cooking dinner and my husband is at the table working on his computer.
Me:   WHO are you talking to???
Silas:  Jerry
Me:  Who’s Jerry?
Silas:  My imaginary friend.
Michael:  You have an imaginary friend?
Silas:  Yes.  He used to live in our walls, but he moved out.
Our kid is seeing demons?!  I thought they had names like Legion, Minga or Death.  But Jerry?  Michael must’ve seen the concern in my eyes.
Michael:  Oh, chill out.  Every kid has an imaginary friend.
Me:  I didn’t.
Michael:  That explains a lot.  Silas, why did Jerry move out?
Silas:  Ants.
Michael:  Jerry told you there were ants in our walls?
Silas:  No.  He emailed me.
How sad is it that imaginary friends don’t play with your children anymore?  They’re too busy so they e-mail or text message?
C U L8TR. UR BFF, Jerry.
