Shellie’s Holiday Hurt Yourself Bread

thanksgiving recipes

[from Hungry is a Mighty Fine Sauce by Shellie Rushing Tomlinson]

1/2 cup mayonnaise, 1/2 cup softened butter, 2 cups grated mozzarella cheese, 1 t. crushed garlic, 1 t. onion powder, 1 cup finely chopped black olives & 1 loaf french bread

Combine mayonnaise with softened butter.  Add grated mozzarella.  Stir in crushed garlic, onion powder and chopped black olives.

Spread mixture over open halves of french bread and back at 350 degrees for 10 to 15 minutes until bubbly.  Slice bread into bite-sized pieces and go ahead and hurt yourself.  Seriously.

You can go back on your diet tomorrow.

Delicious Apple Pie Cider

(created by the lovely moms from At The Picket Fence)

A healthy alternative to the heaviness of apple pie…

INGREDIENTS: 16 oz. of apple juice, 1 apple, apple pie spice, 4 whole cloves, 1 orange (in slices), 4 cinnamon sticks

DIRECTIONS: Slice up apple into quarter-inch slices, sprinkle pieces with apple pie spice, spread slices on a cookie sheet and bake for 20 minutes at 280 degrees (turn slices over after 10 minute of baking).

Then combine apple juice, cloves, orange slices, cinnamon sticks and a little more apple pie spice in a saucepan.  Heat the apple juice concoction and then strain it thru a strainer into mugs

and add baked apple pie slices on top.  Enjoy this warm cup of love!

Shellie’s Highly Favored Chocolate Lemon Bark Candy (great for gifts)

[from Hungry is a Mighty Fine Sauce by Shellie Rushing Tomlinson]

14 oz. old-fashioned lemon drops (crushed), 1 pound white chocolate bark,  4 teaspoons lemon extract

“There are only three ingredients here, which means this recipe is supereasy, but I perfected the chocolate-to-lemon-extract ratio

with trial and error.  Take note: if you try to use anything less than 4 teaspoons of lemon extract,

you’re going to have white chocolate with lemon candy – not Chocolate Lemon Bark.

First, take a hammer to a bag filled with lemon drops and crush them into small pieces.

(This is a good time to get out any buried aggression.)  Set aside.

Melt white chocolate bark in double boiler and stir in lemon extract.  Spread over waxed paper-lined baking sheet

and sprinkle with crushed lemon candy. Refrigerate until set. Break candy up into bite-size pieces and enjoy.”
